Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. whole grain mustard
  • 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. white sugar (granulated)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp. Kosher salt, course
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 28 oz. pork kielbasa, sliced into ½-inch thick coins
  • 2 medium Farmer's Promise red onion, diced
  • ½ green cabbage, shredded

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the mustard, lemon juice, sugar, salt and pepper. Whisk together until combined ,set aside.
  • In a 6-qt heavy bottomed stock pot or wok, warm the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. When hot, add the kielbasa and sauté, stirring occasionally, until the coins have deep brown edges. Remove from pot and set aside.
  • Add the onion to the hot pan and cook until they begin to brown, about 4-6 minutes. Add the cabbage and cook another6-8 minutes, or until it just begins to brown. Return the kielbasa to the pot and add the mustard sauce. Stir ingredients together until hot and thoroughly mixed.
  • Serve hot with preferred sides.

Notes

This recipe works with any grain mustard. Try a spicy Creole mustard with andouille sausage for a spicy Cajun version.
Pairs well with crusty breads or over roasted Golden Red potatoes.
